I know this probably isn't a lot of snow for those of you in the northern tier of states or around the Great Lakes, but for here in SE Indiana this was a lot of snow and wind.  In fact, I haven't seen this much snow since then.  My favorite picture is the one at left.  This is my sister and I.  My family moved to this location in Franklin county, IN from Indianapolis in August 1977.  I was only five at the time and had just begun kindergarten.  Needless to say, we were out of school for over a month.  The truck you see in the picture is quite a distance from our house, but you can see it is buried under the snow.  My mom, sister and I were driving home from Indianapolis the night the blizzard began.  Mom decided to park the truck away from the house so that we could "get out" after the storm.  Unfortunately, we weren't getting out for a very long time.  In fact, my dad was offered to be picked up by a helicopter so that he could come into work at his job.  He did the right thing though and stayed with us.  In addition to the fact that we were snowed in, we also had no electricity or water (in the country, you need electricity to run the pump to get water).  We were without power for about seven days.  Our only source of heat was a fireplace.  Our only source of water was an old well in the front yard.  We used a Tennessee Bucket to pull water out of a 130' driven well.
